Winvic completes structure of Lidl HQ
11 Sep 19

Within less than a year of being awarded the contract, Winvic Construction Ltd has completed the construction of the steel framework of the new Lidl Headquarters in Tolworth, Greater London.
The new five-storey building, within the South-Western borough of London, will included all the necessary features of a business headquarters, including offices, meeting and conference rooms, and canteen facilities, all of which are to be fitted by Winvic.
As well as the steel frame structure having been completed, Winvic have also begun the completion of the upper floor of concrete slabs and have started works to envelope the steel frame structure of the new 250,000sq ft office building.
The frame itself used precisely 5,174 pieces of steel, amounting to a weight of 1,438.7 tonnes, which, by most building standards, is remarkably minimalist and lightweight.
Situated on the A3, the new building provides easy access to commuting office workers and will blend in with the structure’s urban surroundings, maximising natural light to create a bright and light-hearted office atmosphere.
Winvic’s Construction Director, Naim Basha stated: “Our relationship with Lidl has been made even stronger over the past year after securing the contract to construct their new head office, as well as completing two Regional Distribution Centres.
“We have made excellent progress on this scheme and the whole Winvic team – which not only includes our dedicated staff, but suppliers and consultants – is proud to reach this important steel frame completion milestone.
“We are now almost halfway through the complex project and the office’s fully glazed external envelope is one of the next transformative areas of work, when the exterior design really begins to come to life.”
Once completed in 2020, the building will be classified as BREEAM ‘Excellent’ and will also have an ‘A’ EPC rating.
