A railway operator is looking for contractors to supply alternative batteries for the auxiliary power supply systems of passenger trains
The alternative battery system must:
have a proven design and track-record of reliability performance
require little maintenance
have a long lifetime of up to 20 years
be non lead-acid based batteries
The scope of works includes design and manufacture of the alternative batteries and their:
supply
delivery
testing
commissioning during the 1-year service trial
You will need to mend any defect found during the Defects Liability Period.
The alternative batteries shall be fully compatible to the existing equipment and other interfaces of passenger trains. Their design shall cater for the existing operating environment, battery load profile and capacity requirements for the Tuen Ma Line C-trains and the East Rail Line Rotem trains.
You will need to co-ordinate with all stakeholders including car builders, existing Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) of battery charger equipment and the Corporation to facilitate battery installation and all required modification works (if any). This will ensure the alternative batteries are fully compatible to the existing equipment and other mechanical and electrical interfaces
