A local authority has issued a tender for a blood bag system needed to produce pooled and filtered platelets.
You must be able to supply 100,000 sets of 450 millilitres (mL) top-bottom multiple blood pack systems with:
a inline red cell filter (this can be discussed)
a minimum batch size for each consignment not less than 3,000 sets
You will need to supply:
sets with a shelf life of at least 18 months
80 free sample sets with product configurations and specifications before the tender closes
25,000 sets of pooling and storage system for preparation of Leucocyte
depleted platelets from buffy coats
sets with a shelf life of at least 12 months
Specifications:
Pack 1 is for a buffy coat bag:
contains Citrate Phosphate Dextrose (CPD) solution (volume 63mL)
capacity up to 495mL
final product: Buffy Coat with Platelets
Pack 2 is for Red blood cells (empty bag):
with capacity of 600mL
intermediate product: red blood cells in additive from 450mL whole blood
Pack 3 is for filtered red cells Saline Adenine Glucose – Mannitol (SAG-M bag):
containing SAG-M solution (volume: 100mL), incorporate with inline red cell filter
with capacity of 600mL
final product: red cells in additive from 450mL whole blood, leycocyte reduce by filtration
Pack 4 and 5 (empty bags):
with capacity for at least 400mL
final product: plasma/cryoprecipitate product
The contract is for 5 years. It will start from the date given in the letter of acceptance.

Hong Kong is 8 hours ahead of the UK.
