A civil defence institute wants an early warning systems for earthquakes for 10 regions in the Peruvian coast.
Peruvian Institute of Civil Defence (INDECI) through the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS) is looking for an integral solution of early warning systems for earthquakes.
The objective of the project is to provide information, monitor the situation and broadcast alerts. It will also give the population time to respond to the occurrence of an earthquake and reduce the likelihood of casualties.
The project will operate in several geographical areas, in 114 coastal districts of the country (10 regions), located within seismic zone 4, which is characterised by the highest seismic hazard.
The early warning systems are intended to alert the authorities and the population about the proximity of major earthquakes. It must have an infrastructure in territory capable of generating an audible seismic warning signal that constitutes an early warning.
This systems must respond to the objectives:
optimal acoustic design in the required area
broadcast equipment subsystem, infrastructure
interoperability with the IGP’s Intelligent Seismic Network
control subsystem, monitoring and control software
backbone between multiple control centres at national level
redundant communications subsystem
energy autonomy of equipment
complementary dissemination channel subsystem
technical specifications
maintenance and sustainability
expansion of the system
In addition, you must be able to provide:
implementation of meeting point signalling
training and raise of awareness for authorities and population
implementation of the earthquake early warning systems through the organisation, implementation and evaluation of tests and drills
