4. Description: The Awarding Authority are looking to procure suppliers for the provision of heavy lift craneage for lots S1 and S2 as part of HS2 MWCC.
The supply chain will be required to:
Supply, install commission and maintain a number of heavy lift cranes across a number of sites along the S1 S2 route. Between Autumn 2021 to winter 2026. The crane hire will be either contract lift or straight forward CPA hire.
Part of the delivery requirements will be to engage in provision of early technical support to enable the contractor to develop suitable foundation arrangements at each of the locations, this will also include engagement with third parties during the development of our detailed requirements.
Specific details of the cranes specifically required are currently being developed by the construction delivery teams. Early supplier input will also be necessary here.
Initial requirements –
Area Central – 750t mobile crane (TBC) to carry out a weekend bridge lift under a Network Rail possession in September 2021
Area West – 750t superlift crawler for assembly of the TBM’s November 2021
It is envisaged that cranes will either be new or no more than 3 years old at the time of hire and compliant with current UK emissions standards for construction site plant.

Successfully shortlisted supplier’s will be those with verifiable experience, and the appropriate resources to deliver the scope of works. Supplier’s may then be invited to the project, to formally demonstrate their experience and capabilities. As an alternative phone/webinar interviews may be conducted.
Shortlisted suppliers will be sent a PQQ request and successful suppliers will be invited to a competitive tender for the works and services whereby final selection will be based upon a balanced scorecard assessment. The criteria of this assessment will consider quantitative and qualitative evidence supplied by tenderer’s.
On selection, shortlisted supplier’s will be issued with a formal Invitation to Tender (ITT) to demonstrate their ability to work with these values and behaviours in mind, whilst proving their demonstration of capabilities and competence
