4. Description: Engineering studies. Engineering studies. Supply, Installation and Maintenance of Engine Test Rig at MOD Lyneham. An engine test laboratory is a fundamental resource for a school aspiring to teach mechanical and automotive engineering at the Higher National Diploma level in order to complete the Artificer Course Training Objectives (TO’s). Practical work and the development of experimental work are fundamental to the training of a professional engineer. The equipment is required to provide an educational facility to support TOs in studying the operation of a typical automotive engine and to produce simple engine maps. The rig is to be installed at our new site in Lyneham, Wiltshire. The rig must include the following capabilities in the facility:
a. Instrumented automotive engine – diesel.
b. Associated dynamometer.
c. Computer and data logger
d. Instrumented gas turbine. It is also a requirement that the same instrumentation and computer facilities provided for the above should be flexible enough to be compatible with any proposed Instrumented gas turbine.
Contractor to provide maintenance in the form of annual servicing including any consumables for the servicing for a period of 7 years from instalment. Call out Support also required to cover equipment failure.
