4. Description: The CSA Catapult has a requirement for an AC Source and Load capability of 100kVA. This forms parts of a larger capability expansion plan which will result in a final capability of 300kVA. The equipment must be grid-tied and be capable of bi-directional power transfer in order to minimise energy wastage. The equipment will be used as an active bi-directional load to the equipment under test (EUT). The EUT will typically be a high-power automotive or industrial inverter which may produce unfiltered PWM waveforms or filtered sinusoidal waveforms with superimposed harmonics.
The equipment specified will be required to exercise the EUT under a variety of load conditions and potential failure modes.

Final installation of the equipment will be in the high-power area of the power electronics lab, which forms part of the CSA Catapult innovation centre. The centre is located in Newport, South Wales, United Kingdom.

The Catapult may also purchase additional related services.
