Petrojam Limited wishes to solicit proposals for the supply of industrial pipes and fittings for its storage project.
Petrojam Limited wishes to solicit proposals for the supply of goods for its Asphalt Production for High Sulphur HFO Storage Project. Mechanical materials at its refinery are located in Kingston, Jamaica.
All piping materials, components and valves supplied must be accompanied by a certifiedmill test report from the manufacturer denoting at least the following:
item quantities
item description and size
item weight
material type
heat number
chemical composition
yield strength
tensile strength
percentage elongation
Brinell hardness number
surface quality inspection
Schedule of requirements
Procurement of goods international competitive bidding
dimension inspection
flaw detection
penetration inspection
All materials supplied should be supplied along with generic product catalogs denoting the items.
All pipes and fitting (tees, elbows, and reducers) must to be coated with 18 – 24 mililetres of 3M’s Marine Grade Fusion Bonded Epoxy (FBE).
The ends (3” – 5”) of all pipes and fittings must be left bare so to allow welding.
All pipe ends are to be beveled.
Design consideration
All piping components are to be suitable for handling high and low pressure Petroleum products.
All components are to be suitable for outside, unsheltered location, and should function normally in ambient temperatures between 50 degrees and 100 degrees Fahrenheit.
Materials
Materials for pipe and pipe fittings shall be in conformance with ASTM A106, A105 and in accordance with ASME B31.3-2006.
The use of seamed carbon steel piping is not permitted for refinery piping installation.
Pipe and pipe fittings
Steel pipe
Steel pipe schedules and weights must be in accordance with the requirements of ANSI B36.10.
Steel pipe must be ASTM A106 Gr. B or API 5L, Grade B, seamless.
Sizes smaller than 2 inches must be ASTM A106 Schedule 80.
Sizes larger than 2 inches must be schedule 40 for sizes up to and including 10 inches.
Sizes larger than 10 inches must have 0.375 inch wall thickness.
Any discrepancy between the bill of quantities and the specifications must be referred to the engineer for clarification.
Welded fittings
Welded fittings must conform to ANSI B16.9 and ASTM A 234.
Grade WPB for use with carbon steel pipe.
Welding outlets must be standard weight forged steel conforming to ASTM A-105.
Forged welded flanges
Flanges must be carbon steel conforming to ANSI B16.5, Class 150, 300 except as otherwise specified.
Flanged facings must correspond to the equipment to which the piping is joined.
Materials must conform to the requirements of ASTM A-105, for cast steel and ASTM A182 Grade F11 for alloy steel.
Flange studs and nuts must conform to the requirements of ASTM A-193 and ASTM A-194 respectively.
Threaded steel fittings
Threaded fittings must be able to operate and conform to ASTM A- 105 for cast steel and ASTM A-182 Grade F11 for alloy steel respectively.
Valves
Valves 1” and below must be threaded and rated at 800# conforming to ASTM A- 105 and ASTM A-182 Grade F11.
1 1/2” valves must be flanged type valves and conform to ASTM A-105 and ASTM A-182 GradeF11.
Valves 2” and above must conform to ASTM A-216 Gr. WCB and ASTM A-217 Gr. WC6.
Any discrepancy between the bill of quantities and the specifications must be referred to the engineer for clarification
Nipples
Carbon Steel pipe nipples must be of the same material as the pipe they join and must conform to the requirements of ASTM A-733.
Unions
Steel pipe unions must conform to ASTM A-105, and ASTM A-182.
Grade F11. 3000-Pound Class, screwed ends.
Joint compounds
All joint compounds for any type of joint must be suitable for use with the fuels specified and must be resistant to water.
Gaskets
Gaskets for use with flanged connections must be:
metallic and 1/16-inch thick
spiral wound
metallic gaskets with flexible graphite filler
suitable for temperatures up to 900F.
Gaskets should be preferably manufactured by Flexitallic using the CGI style with 304 SS metal binding.
Any discrepancy between the bill of quantities and specifications must be referred to Petrojam for clarification.
