A government information technology entity is looking for network devices (switches) for a data centre
eGovJa currently manages hundreds of network devices that provide connectivity between branch locations and into the eGov data centre for shared services. Data centre network switches and transceivers will be required to provide connectivity of monitoring tools and monitors within the data Centre, and to facilitate connections for the network operations centre (NOC) and other services in the data centre.
The switches procured will be utilised to provide increased reliability and improved access to the computing resources at eGov Jamaica for both external and internal clients. The switches will be utilised to upgrade the infrastructure in computer suites 1 and 2 by providing increased bandwidth. The upgrades will result in improved access to and performance of the cloud and other online services offered by eGov.
The procurement includes the acquisition of a new core carrier switch that will improve internet integration. The acquisition will also lead to the mitigation of obsolescence risk through the replacement of support switches currently installed. The new switches will also include additional top-of-rack and end-of rack switch to meet the needs of the expanded capacity that will be installed within the data centre spaces.
