5. Description: Energy is considered as one of the primary challenges for the sustainable development of human societies. Environmentally friendly renewable energy sources, as an alternative to conventional fossil fuels, have witnessed extensive development during past decades because of their potential to provide energy without greenhouse gas emissions and hence mitigate climate change through global warming. Among a variety of renewable energy sources, photovoltaic (PV) and photocatalysis technologies which enable direct conversion of solar energy to electron hole pairs for a substantial and growing proportion of alternative energy electricity and fuel generation and capacity globally. It is also attractive as it is a modular technology which in principle can be used everywhere without geographical limitation. The key figure of merit of such devices are their quantum efficiency performance, namely external quantum efficiency and internal quantum efficiency, which account for the efficiency between photon to electron conversion. We are looking for a world-class quantum efficiency facility than can precisely analysis various photon conversion devices including PV, photocatalysis and photodetectors and so on. The facility needs to have broad wavelength coverage (UV-VIS-NIR, 300 nm to 1800 nm or beyond), robust system calibration (AM1.5), user friendly interface and good match with standard solar simulators (spectra and current density match). Calibration certification, reference cells and flexible-type sample holders (can be adapted to various types of samples) are needed.
We are seeking an instrument to be housed with a central quantum efficiency hub to provide rapid measurement the quantum efficiency of photovoltaics and photocatalysis devices.
The equipment must allow for simultaneous internal quantum efficiency (IQE), external quantum efficiency (EQE), and spectral response measurements. The system needs to be a complete, turn-key quantum efficiency measurement solution with a user-friendly software interface and be delivery prior to 31st of March 2023.
