A defence authority is looking for a shallow water multi beam echo sounder.
The portable echo sounder will be fitted on a survey boat and should have:
a swath coverage of 5 to 210 degrees
a range resolution of <6 mm
512 to 1,024 EA and ED beams
a operating frequency of 400kHz
a depth range of 0.1m to 250m
FM and CW pulse
up to 60 kHz ping rate
a bandwidth of 80 kHz
beam stabilisation both roll and pitch- resolution of not less than 0.9 degree by 0.9 degree at 400 KHz
a heading accuracy of 2cm or 2%
a weight of not more 16kg in air and be less than 10 kg in water
a cable length of 25m
power consumption of 100w
have an operating temperature of 4 degree Celsius to +40 degree Celsius
storage temperature of -4 degree Celsius to +60 degree Celsius
It will be used for a bathymetric survey in a coastal river and estuary area for nautical charting.
It should be:
suitable for estuarine and open ocean survey
able to locate and identify underwater objects like wrecks, rocks, containers and drowned aircraft pipelines
A similar type of echo sounder must either be currently or have been used in the past by government hydrographic organisation like the Royal Navy (UK), NOAH (USA) and EPSHOM (France)
