4. Description: The awarding authority is one of only two colleges in specified location with accreditation to deliver Work based Land Based Engineering courses. The awarding authority has the largest number of Land Based Engineering students in Northern Ireland and is the largest in the UK. The College has invested heavily within the Motor Vehicle and Land-Based sector purchasing modern resources, which include physical resources, state of the art diagnostic equipment and operational training rigs. Further staff training was implemented to enable tutors to keep pace with new technologies used within the Land-Based and Motor Vehicle industry. In order to fulfil the College departmental objectives stipulated in the College Development Plan, The awarding authority needs to purchase modern up to date rigs incorporating SMART technology. This holistic approach adopted by awarding authority provides students with a realistic working environment using modern up to date resources encouraging and engaging high quality training covering the learning styles, kinaesthetic, visual and auditory within the Land-Based sector. The Agriculture Land-Based industry sector is moving towards the autonomous vehicle; the industry has encountered rapid advancements in SMART technology over the decade. Within the current Land-Based framework, there are a number of changes within the curriculum incorporating units relating to Mathematics for Engineering, Electrical and Electronic Principles, Electro/Hydraulics incorporating smart technology. Currently, the College has limited resources to facilitate the teaching and training necessary to deliver these units. With increasing targets being applied across the Education sector, The awarding authority realises it needs to update its working environment to a point, which is representative of equipment that is currently used in industry. This will undoubtedly benefit students who will not only learn the theory behind SMART technology but will also gain knowledge, through kinaesthetic learning using a range of diagnostic equipment to repair faults within an Electro/Hydraulic system. It is vital that the Land-Based students receive training and experience, which is in line with modern day equipment. The College is committed to provide Land-Based students with the best facilities and equipment possible to ensure a high quality of learning and training within the College environment. Therefore, The awarding authority is seeking to appoint a contractor to Supply and Deliver of a Land-Based Agriculture Tractor with loader as detailed within this Specification and delivered by 14 March 2017.
