5. Description: The awarding authority is Wales’ largest premier Potato and Vegetable packing firm. Based in Haverfordwest, Pembrokeshire and established in 1995 the business is wholly owned by the farmers and growers who supply them. The company has grown year on year over the last five years.
The awarding authority’s growth has been built on proactive engagement with the major retailers and their ability to secure contracts with Asda, Tesco, Sainsbury, Morrisons, Waitrose and M&S. In order to maintain supply contracts with these leading retailers, Puffin Produce has been at the forefront of continuous development that includes expansion of its facilities and range to motivate increased sales and product marketability.
The awarding authority plan investment by further increasing scale, efficiency and infrastructure of their current potato operation. As such, they are currently developing a new 5 chamber cold storage unit and converting an existing ambient storage area adjacent to 3 cold storage chambers into an additional 2 cold storage chambers (5 cold storage chambers in all)
This invitation to tender is in request of quotes for a the supply and complete installation of full electrical services to both the New 5 chamber cold storage unit and the separate 2 unit conversion.

SCOPE OF WORKS
Provide/include the following services:-
Include for certified access equipment, lifting equipment, all required bracketry and fixings, CIS cards. Carry out the installation of mains distribution system including the Switch board extension
Provide Lighting
Provide Small Power
Provide Fire Alarm installation.
Provide External Lighting
Existing 5 Cgamber Building
Fit out the two additional chill stores, extending cable trays for new sub mains, adding cable trunking and conduits for lighting and power, extend fire alarms Zones 4 & 5 to BGU’s.
External lighting has to be extended on the rear elevation. External lighting on the end elevation to be installed wired with a new circuit.
MAINS AND SUB MAINS DISTRIBUTION
The existing 100 Kvar power factor correction unit is to be upgraded to 200 Kvar. The existing switchboard is to have a new 400 amp triple pole MCCB fitted complete with a new cable termination section. The new MCCB terminations are to be extended into the cableway to ease the connection of four parallel cables. The existing 5 chamber building is to have units 4 and 5 converted to chill stores. The two sub main cables for the new units will be cabled from MDB3 on existing tray which finishes at unit 3, an extension of the tray will be necessary to service the new refrigeration packs for chill stores 4 & 5.
The new five chamber building will be serviced from the existing main switch board new MCCB provision. A new sub main cabled supply is to be laid in trenches, 185m approximate length laid with a minimum of 125mm spacing between cables covered with dust or sand. A new road cable crossing is required where ducts will be provided, the cables to be drawn through from the open trench. Warning tape must be laid as the trench is backfilled at approximately 300mm above the cable. A new panel board assembly is to be provided complete with the necessary accessories including Kwh sub metering and surge protection. The panel board equipment to be installed shall be as manufactured by Schneider. From the panel board Kwh metered sub mains cables are to be installed externally to the refrigeration equipment contained on cable tray attached to the building steel frame. The swa cables must be secured with metal banding or cable cleats.
The contractor will still be responsible for the installation and to order/install the PFC equipment upgrade.
LIGHTING
Layout as per the drawing, the low levels of illumination within the chill stores is to reduce the potential of light effecting the stored potatoes. System to be largely wired with single LSF cables contained in PVC trunking and conduits. The trunking is to be installed at high level 8m ffl, above the height of the stored potato pallets. Fittings to be controlled via
PIR switches, the fitting over the panel board assembly is to be manually switched. Masterseal Key switches are to be fitted for emergency lighting testing.
EXTERNAL LIGHTING
The external lighting is to be wired from within the building as all the luminaires will be attached to the external walls secured with rods, spacers and oversized plate washers. The system wiring should be as per the internal lighting with an additional internal plug in system to allow for flexible connections to the fittings. The lighting to be controlled via a time clock combined light sensor with contactor switching.
POWER
Minor power requirements consisting of 2 twin 13 amp master seal sockets in each chill unit (3 in unit 1.), two 16amp switched sockets for the electric roller shutter and speed doors, sockets to be labelled “door use only.
FIRE ALARMS
System designed for manual operation with enhanced auto detection consisting of heat detectors fitted in each of the chill stores. An existing 5 chamber building system is monitored for fault and fire activation via mobile phone technology, the new building is to be monitored with the same technology. The fire alarm equipment uses standard format wired from an 8 zone facp. Puffin has an ongoing contract with Advanced Fire Protection, the equipment and commissioning must be purchased from AFP to maintain compatibility, including the fault/fire communication equipment.

EARTHING
Equipotential bonding required to the main structural steel, 50mm CPC. There needs to be supplementary bonding to the panel board, steel channel frame and the refrigeration equipment. No fixed water provision in this building.
INTERCEPTOR
An oil interceptor is to be installed, the electrical contractor will be required to supply and install the equipment.
TESTING AND COMMISSIONING
All electrical testing to be carried out by a qualified electrician in accordance with the current 17TH Edition Regulations, BS7671:2008 Amendment 3:2015, recorded on appropriate NICEIC type certificates.
MANUALS AND AS FITTED DRAWINGS
On completion of the Contract, 2 (No.) hard copies of operation and maintenance manuals to be issued along with 1 (No.) electronic copy which are to include: Description of services, health and safety information, schedule of manufacturers and suppliers, maintenance requirements and procedures, a copy of all test certificates, schedule of drawings issued, schedule of equipment used and manufacturers data and manufacturers literature,
A full set of as fitted drawings to be issued along with 1 (No.) electronic copy.

Liquidated Damages – £2,000 per week or part thereof
