LHCH intends to enter into a contract with Intuitive Surgical for the purchase of a robotic assisted surgical system as it is the only option available that meets the Trust’s requirements. In accordance with the Trust’s interpretation of the PCR 2015 the product can only be provided by the chosen provider for technical reasons and competition is absent due to the unique requirements of the equipment being procured. Intuitive Surgical is currently the only manufacturer of commercially available robotic assisted surgical systems offering robotic four-arm multi-port technology and a suite of fully wristed 8mm instrumentation, wristed advanced energy and stapling instruments, fluorescence imaging, integrated table motion and skills simulation on a single platform capable of performing minimally invasive surgical procedures. The Trust believes there is no other commercially available robotic assisted surgical system that facilitates the multidisciplinary applications planned at LHCH.
