4. Description: This Tender specification is for two identical 3-axis Computer Numerical Controlled (CNC) Vertical Milling Machines (VMM’s) with minimum travel of 560 x 560 x 500 mm on XYZ axis respectively.
They will be installed in the RAL Space Millimetre Wave Technology Group’s (MMTG) Precision Development Facility (PDF) at the Rutherford Appleton Laboratory, alongside other CNC milling machines. They will manufacture the aluminium formers required for the production of black body calibration targets for the MetOp Receiver programme and will also be used for larger items which cannot be accommodated by other machines in the PDF.
