The British Geological Survey are looking to purchase a new shallow-water multibeam echosounder for deployment on small, near-shore survey vessels. BGS own and operate a small 9 m Cheetah catamaran called the White Ribbon. The equipment currently aboard this vessel is coming to the end of its working life. The White Ribbon has a permanent mount, but it envisaged the new system will be mobilised on a variety of small vessels of opportunity. The new system must therefore be easy to set-up, transport and mountable on a customised over-the-side pole.
