II.1.4) Short Description:
This Prior Information Notice (PIN) is inviting expressions of interest to explore potential delivery options to achieve the Council’s ambitions to deliver the hydrogen hub in Aberdeen as outlined within the attached document.
Aberdeen has a vision to be a world leading hydrogen City. The Council is focused on developing a commercial supply of hydrogen to support its requirements to decarbonise transport, heat and industrial applications, but also to establish the opportunity for the City and the region to export hydrogen to the UK and EU markets.
Aberdeen has an initial requirement through the Aberdeen Hydrogen Hub, a programme of investments in renewable hydrogen production, to supply Aberdeen’s bus and public sector fleets. The initial demand will be 500 kg/day with demand forecasted to increase to 3.5 tonnes of hydrogen by 2030 to meet potential transport uses – road, rail, marine – as well as for heat and industry applications. The initial phase of the Aberdeen Hydrogen Hub is supported by the Scottish Government’s Energy Transition Fund.
