Please explain in a clear and comprehensive manner why the award of the contract without prior publication in the Official Journal of the European Union
is lawful, by stating the relevant facts and, as appropriate, the conclusions of law in accordance with the directive:
The North Bristol NHS Trust, Pathology Sciences, Southmead Hospital require a replacement sonication solution for equipment which has reached the end of its useful life. DNA sonication of various types of Next Generation Sequencing of commercially available library preparations is an integral function of the laboratories and the increasing demand on services requires the sonicator sample throughput to significantly increase to meet the departments expectation. A high throughput 96 well plate based sample sonication solution for next generation sequencing (NGS) preparations has been identified as a means of meeting demand. The technical requirements of the high throughput sonicator cannot be met by any other supplier as there is only one known supplier.
