The Authority has a requirement for a dual-layered hearing protection solution to form part of the Tactical Hearing Protection System (THPS) Specialist User+ project. The solution should consist of a circum aural (over-ear) electronic level dependant headset that provides both hearing protection and 2-way communications by integrating with current MOD radios, and an in-ear moisture resistant plug that should integrate seamlessly and not interfere with the headset to offer a complete system. The system should ensure that the MOD can offer dual-layered hearing protection that is fully compliant with the Control of Noise At Work Regulations (CNAWR) 2005 and provide the following levels of dual-layered attenuation: H=40, M=37, L=31 measured in accordance with BS EN 352-2:2002 and BS EN 24869-1:1993.
