II.1.4) Short Description: This tender opportunity is seeking to make an appointment for a manufacturer to fabricate and supply the identified fire door sets detailed within the appended schedules and design packs to align with the site works and permit the contractors to install the items.
The works form part of an ongoing refurbishment programme that seek to make improvements to fire safety measures to the university’s student accommodation assets
The university requirements and scope for fire door sets replacement works is based upon the Cardiff University’s “Silver fire door replacement scheme”. The university’s silver scheme is based upon a risk assessment approach for fire safety and forms part of the university’s overarching fire safety strategy improvement works.
The silver scheme approach seeks to replace flat entrance door sets, kitchen door sets and central circulation door sets, and plant door sets with new certified door sets.
The door sets are to be replaced and installed with certified door sets including the manufacture and installation to BM Trada Q mark (as noted above this is a supply only contract with the installation being procured under a different contract)
It is anticipated that all site works are to be undertaken during the summer period from mid-June through to late-August of 2024 while the identified assets are vacant over the summer period.
Tender package has been divided into 3no. lots as summarised below:-

IV.1) Description
IV.1.1) Type of procedure:

Justification:It is understood that Fire door set lead times are currently 6 – 8 weeks. This period is on top off site specific measurement surveys off the proposed 466 doors, this will need careful planning with residences as the blocks are currently occupied and exam periods are imminent.
The proposed replacement programme will start on the 27th June 2024 when the existing door sets will be removed and new certified door sets will begin to be installed by the appointed main contractor.
To safeguard the programme and ensure that new door sets are measured, manufactured and delivered to the main contractor carrying out this years summer works programme.
