Surrey County Council (‘the Council’) through the Local Assistance Scheme (LAS) provides emergency financial assistance to Surrey residents who are unable to meet the needs of them self or their dependants. The Scheme also provides or replaces essential household items if a resident cannot afford to do this. Decisions are made immediately during a phone conversation with the resident, providing immediate assistance for the emergency. All awards are made on a non-repayment basis, reducing the burden on the resident and avoiding costly debt recovery. Because of the emergency situation, there is a need for the kitchen appliances, furniture, bedding and other items to be delivered within seven days from receipt of a purchase order.
The requirement has been divided into two lots – Lot 1 – Kitchen Appliances and Lot 2 – Furniture, Bedding and Other Items. Tenders may be submitted for one lot or both lots. The maximum number of lots that may be awarded to a tenderer is two. The requirement of this tender is to appoint a supplier to provide a service (Lot 1) to supply, deliver and install (as required) Kitchen Appliances and a supplier to provide a service (Lot 2) to supply and deliver Furniture, Bedding and Other Items to residential properties on behalf of the Council.
The contracts are for a period of 1 year with a possible 1 year extension.
The supplier appointed for each lot will also be required to remove old items for recycling or safe disposal.
The provision of office furniture is not required for this contract.
