The ProReveal sold by Murray Surgical was the result of a Department of Health funded project to find a more effective method of detecting protein “prions” on the surface of surgical instruments. There was a total of three funded projects in Southampton, Edinburgh, and London. The ProReveal is the result of the London project.
The Southampton and Edinburgh projects did not result in commercially viable systems, so the ProReveal is currently the only system available.
