UU has been looking for alternatives to chemical dosing for pH correction as it can be required following Phosphorus removal using Reactive Media. The requirements for pH correction following Reactive Media are that it must be low complexity and require no chemical dosing in order to compliment the Reactive Media systems.
As an example acidic bark such as that from pine trees would be suitable to be used as a passive flow through solution.
Please note this is not a call for competition this is merely pre-market engagement whereby United Utilities wishes to understand what is potentially on offer before commitment is made to any formal procurement process.
