GRAHAM Wins Contract at Nine Elms

GRAHAM has been awarded a contract by South Bank Colleges to build the new London South Bank Technical College at Nine Elms, Vauxhall, London.

Procured via Pagabo’s £10 billion Major Works Framwork, the 10,000 sq m further education teaching facility is purpose-designed and will provide ten storeys of teaching, learning and support space for science, technology, engineering, arts and maths.

Architecture PLB designed the building to create a distinctive identity, and the building will feature a strong façade that is to comprise brick work and curtain walling at lower levels, along with eye-catching pleated metal cladding incorporating the upper storeys.

Inside, the ground and first floors will accommodate a two-storey section, which will contain the main entrance and informal teaching space, with a café and large workshops for construction training, upon which the remain eight storeys will sit, featuring a narrower teaching floor plate.

Rob Joyce, Regional Director at GRAHAM, said: “This state-of-the-art project reflects a huge commitment to investing in London’s education infrastructure and we couldn’t be prouder to partner with Lambeth College in bringing this latest phase of development forward.

“It is universally recognised across the construction industry that procurement can be a challenging and exhaustive process, but we’re proud to be on a number of national frameworks that champion collaboration and are committed to delivering social value. Pagabo is no exception to this, and we are delighted to have won this project through its framework.”

The project has been designed to create a low-carbon campus that can be sustainably managed and maintained for years to come and is expected to achieve a BREEAM Excellent rating. Construction commenced in early 2021.
