There’s no planet B

In 2020, Wates became one of the first organisations in the construction sector to commit to zero carbon from our operations by 2025. In the interim, Wates have been working across all areas of othe business, ‘changing our habits’ and adapting the way they deliver projects and work with customers to help them meet their own carbon reduction goals.

In this documentary, recorded during October and November 2021, Wates examine four projects around the country, where teams are designing, constructing and maintaining buildings in response to the challenge of climate change.

Together, they provide a small snapshot of some of the work Wates is doing to create more positive environmental impacts.

The projects featured are:

  • Lucent a project undertaken by Wates Construction London on behalf of Land Securities behind the iconic Piccadilly Circus lights
  • Cardiff Living we visit the Passivhaus project, and the Eastern High development which Wates Residential is building for Cardiff Council
  • 11 & 12 Wellington Place these are the most sustainable buildings in Yorkshire, which Wates Construction North is constructing for our customer, MEPC in central Leeds
