Approval lined up for Broad Street Mall plans
A trio of vacant units at Broad Street Mall could soon be repurposed.FunBox Entertainment UK is behind the application, which concerns the amalgamation of units 49- 50 and 52.It is hoping to change the use from commercial, business and services to sui generis as a family entertainment centre.A report drawn up ahead of Reading Council’s planning committee meeting on 1 November said: “The proposal is considered to contribute positively to the provision of leisure, culture and tourism in central Reading to attract a wide range of people into the centre and to complement existing uses within the vicinity.”The applicant has advised that the proposed maximum capacity of the venue would be about 400 people.The focus will be on entertainment, although soft toy grabs are proposed as part of the offering.The application has been recommended for approval.
