Detailed plans for housing at South Yorkshire development

Detailed plans have been lodged for almost 180 homes in the latest phase of a major South Yorkshire development.Harworth Estates Residential Development, the housebuilding development arm of Harworth Group, has submitted a reserved matters planning application to Rotherham Metropolitan Borough Council for the Highfield Spring South, Part 2 (area 4D), site at Waverley.The 14.3-acre site is located adjacent to the railway line that borders the Waverley site and units forming part of the Advanced Manufacturing Park (AMP).Planning permission is sought for 177 properties, including one-, two-, three- and four-bedroom homes.The site would comprise 63.8 per cent affordable housing and 36.2 per cent market housing.A linear park is proposed running along the northeastern boundary of the site.A planning statement submitted as part of the application said: “The proposed development facilitates the continued growth and delivery of the consented development at Waverley New Community.”In November 2023, planning permission was granted for a new high street at the Waverley scheme.In total, Harworth’s plans comprise up to 3,890 homes, shops, restaurants, a primary school, leisure and community facilities and 310 acres of open space.
