Mixed-use plans submitted for Sheffield site
Plans have been lodged for a development of student accommodation and commercial units in Sheffield city centre.Trippet Court Ltd, supported by Zerum and Four Architects, has submitted a detailed planning application to Sheffield City Council for a scheme on Trippet Lane.Planning permission is sought for the construction of a nine-storey building comprising 71 student bedrooms and two ground floor commercial units.Communal areas would be provided on the first and second floors, with some of the studio apartments also benefitting from private balconies. The plans also include a bin store, secure cycle parking and plant rooms.A planning statement submitted as part of the application said jobs would be created through the construction, sales and then operation of the mixed-use development. It added: “The scheme has been designed to a very high standard, bringing a previously developed site back into use through a comprehensive redevelopment enhancing facilities in the local area and choice in the housing market. In summary, the proposed development will provide a high-quality development in a highly sustainable location.”Planning permission was previously granted in 2018 for the demolition of the existing building on the site and construction of a seven-storey, 63-bedroom student accommodation scheme. The building on the site was demolished, but the previous planning permission has now expired.
