Outline Somerset plans due to advance
Outline plans for up to 100 homes in a Somerset town could soon advance. The application site concerns land to the north of Somerton Road in Langport, with all matters reserved apart from access.Proposed is a residential development with associated public open space and infrastructure. The site is considered suitable for accommodating approximately 100 properties, with a proposed housing mix including a variety of house types and sizes. It aims to provide both market housing and affordable housing. An officer’s report said the application is re-represented to Somerset planners solely on the basis that the Education Authority has significantly reduced its request for contributions from £1.18m to £410,938.The scheme was considered at committee in December where it was unanimously resolved to approve the application. This was subject to the prior completion of a section 106 agreement to include a cascade mechanism regarding the affordable housing and the imposition of conditions as per the officer recommendation.Somerset Council’s South Planning Committee will discuss the application next Tuesday (28 May).A recommendation in the report seeks to approve the amended education contribution.
