Advanced Engineering published new report
1 Aug 19

Advanced Engineering have published a new report, titled Voice of the Industry, which covers topics including concerns surrounding Brexit, concerns surrounding the skills shortage, changes imposed by the rise of electric vehicles, and the need for product innovations.
Analysing the challenges that businesses have faced within the past two years, the report features a question-and-answer style set of interviews with leading figures in the engineering sector, ranging from businesses such as Renishaw, Atlas Copco, Kawasaki Robotics, and various others.
Furthermore, the report also features interviews with smaller engineering companies such as Xi Engineering which serves as a digital twinning company that uses multi-physics simulations to assist with businesses in speeding up their innovation.
The Managing Director of Xi Engineering, Mark-Paul Buckingham stated: “We offer services like simulation that help our customers create accurate models that represent the real world.
“These simulations offer a robust test-bed for companies to trial various scenarios that would take much longer if done manually. As a result, we’ve helped companies innovate in a wide variety of sectors, from high-end audio and automotive to renewable energy and transport.”
Opening the report is a foreword from the Managing Director of KUKA UK and Ireland, Mike Wilson, who is also the Chairman of the British Automation and Robotics Association (BARA) who believes that the challenges presented to the engineering sector offer an opportunity for sector growth.
Mr Wilson states: “The UK is well known as a source of excellence in engineering and innovation. We are the home for leading global businesses such as Rolls Royce and BAE Systems as well as many much smaller, highly creative engineering companies.”
“The current economic climate is uncertain, but I have confidence the resilience of our engineering sector will weather the changing environment and may well become stronger as a result.”
The report has been published ahead of the Advanced Engineering show which will be held at the National Exhibition Centre in Birmingham between the 30th and 31st October 2019 for manufacturers and supply chain professionals.
The show will also feature an Innovation Zone for UK start-ups to exhibit, for free, the latest innovations to the market.
