£50M retirement village in Cheshire opens

Inspired Villages opened their newest, all-encompassing retirement village, Gifford Lea, in Cheshire on Saturday 6th July 2019 after Seddon finished construction of phase two.
The village was formally opened by MasterChef’s Greg Wallace at celebrations which included: a live jazz band, manicures and hand massages, wine tasting, a cinema showing of the Greatest Showman, cocktail making, a cardio wall, gift card making, and face painting.
Phase two of the £50M development delivered an additional 56 new homes to the market after the first phase, which concluded in 2016, brought 48 apartments as part of the overall aim of 162 luxury retirement properties in the Tattenhall area, approximately 8 miles away from Chester city centre.
CEO of Inspired Villages, Jamie Bunce stated: “We’re very pleased to be completing the main facilities at our Gifford Lea community. As well as exceptional facilities, the location enjoys incredible views of the Cheshire countryside.
“The village reflects the needs of today’s retirees, who want to continue living independently, and yet take reassurance from knowing support is available should they need it.
“The central facilities will provide an important focal point for residents and the general public alike to share their passions and interests.”
The village offers a variety of one- and two-bedroom properties as well as communal social and leisure facilities such as: shops, restaurants, a bowling green, a gym, a wellness spa, and a relaxation pool. Prices for the one-bedroom homes will start from £219,000 while the two-bedroom properties will start at £413,000.
Regional director at Seddon, Ed Wootton added: “Following an extremely successful initial phase, we’re thrilled to have delivered another 56 new homes for the growing over-65 population in Cheshire.
“These luxury later-living spaces are a direct response to the need for dynamic retirement communities in the area, placing the ageing population at the heart of local neighbourhoods. We’re confident that these extremely popular homes are a great addition to Tattenhall.”
According to projections by Cheshire West and the Cheshire Council, the over 65 population of the county is set to increase 28% by 2035 while the population of over 85s is set to double, making greater living space for this growing demographic all the more imperative.
Phase three of the village will commence in Q3 of 2019.
