4. Description: The tuberculosis laboratory within the Bacteriology Branch of the Veterinary Sciences Division is an integral part of the awarding authority. The awarding authority was created on 1st April 2006 as an amalgamation of the Department of Agriculture, Environment and Rural Affairs DAERA Science Service and the Agricultural Research Institute of Northern Ireland ARINI. The awarding authority is a DARD Non-Departmental Public Body NDPB. The laboratory carries out a statutory function in relation to bovine tuberculosis, which is integral to the DAERA’s field tuberculosis eradication programme. The laboratory is now seeking tenders for the supply and delivery of Lowenstein Jensen and Stonebrinks media slopes for the isolation of Mycobacterium bovis.
