Morgan Sindall increases school capacity in Essex by 400 places

The construction and infrastructure group Morgan Sindall has increased the capacity of schools in Essex following the completion of three expansion projects at Lexden Springs School, Glenwood School, and Ryedene Primary and Nursey School.
Through these three projects, Morgan Sindall has successfully increased school capacity in Essex by more than 400 places after this was the initial aim of the Essex County Council, who appointed Morgan Sindall to these three schemes through the £300M Essex Construction Framework.
Furthermore, these projects are also a result of the council’s recent pledges of £115M worth of improvements to schools so as to better accommodate students with special education needs and disabilities (SEND) following a surge in autism diagnoses.
The Operations Director for Morgan Sindall Construction in the East of England, Chris Travers stated: “As Essex continues to become a highly attractive destination for families to live and work, it is crucial that the region is supported with the necessary infrastructure and education facilities to support them.
“In recent years, we have seen increasing demand for school places in the region, especially for SEN and SEND learners, and Essex County Council’s record investment to boost these services is fantastic.
“We are incredibly proud to have supported Essex County Council with their vision to create inspiring, special places where children and young people at all stages of their education journey can prosper and reach their true potential. The benefit of this investment will be felt across the region for many years to come.”
The Cabinet Member for Education and Skills at Essex County Council, Councillor Ray Gooding added: “I am incredibly pleased that we have been able to create so many more school places in Essex, particularly for SEN pupils. Every child in Essex should be able to access the education they want and deserve and being able to expand some of our great schools helps make this possible.”
