Feedback Wanted for New Homes Plan
12 Oct 20

Gentoo is welcoming feedback on its new proposals to build affordable homes in the Carley Hill area of Sunderland.
The plans aim to redevelop the former Carley Hill School site, as well as the quarry site, into new houses where the homes would be available for both affordable rent and shared ownership.
If the plans are approved, up to 115 homes could be built at the site, which has been unused for 16 years, with 110 of them set to be constructed on the former quarry site close by. The developments will comprise a mix of two, three and four-bedroom family homes, along with two-bedroom bungalows.
Residents who live in close proximity to the developments have received a leaflet through their door, which can be used to provide feedback. Residents can also provide feedback by completing an online questionnaire. Gentoo, the developer, is keen to hear feedback from local residents on the new builds.
Joanne Gordon, Development Director, said: “Our ambitious plans to build affordable homes in Sunderland are progressing extremely well and we’re delighted to announce the next step in delivering the high-quality, affordable homes the residents of the city need.
“Building the right homes in the right places is crucial to our plans and I’d like to encourage everyone to have their say on our latest proposals by visiting our website.”
The new developments are part of the group’s commitment to creating 900 additional homes for rent by 2024.
