Resurfacing works planned on the A55 in Flintshire

An essential resurfacing project is currently taking place between Junction 34 and Junction 35 of the A55 Westbound in Flintshire, North Wales, after authorities became aware that the road had begun to deteriorate and that more drastic road closures and measures would need to be taken if it was no repaired swiftly.

To be specific, the resurfacing of the A55 between Junction 34 Ewloe and Junction 35 Dobshill will ensure that the motorway is both safer for motorists and also quieter for any residents who live nearby, with the only necessary closures taking place between Junction 34 and Junction 36 Warren on nights and weekends.

In addition to this project, the Welsh Government has announced that other resurfacing works are scheduled to take place on the A55 between Ewloe to Broughton and on the A483 between Pulford and Wrexham over the next few years.

The Transport Minister, Ken Skates stated: “It is essential that this work is carried out to maintain and improve the condition of the A55. Every effort is being made to minimise disruption as much as possible and to complete the work as quickly as possible.

“Not carrying out this work would result in more and more unplanned emergency closures which would be far more disruptive than these planned works. It is vital the carriageway is maintained and resurfaced for the safety of the travelling public.

“I would urge the travelling public to follow the signage on the A55 while this work is in progress, and I thank them and local residents for their co-operation and patience.

“I imagine all motorists support the maintenance and improvement of our roads, which, inevitably requires work to be carried out on them. This work will be undertaken in a way that minimises disruption.”
