SFS Intec director to join MCRMA board

Colin Yeates to join MCRMA board.
The Metal Cladding and Roofing Manufactures Association (MCRMA) has elected Colin Yeates, the Sales and Marketing Director of SFS intec, to its management board.
MCRMA was originally established to represent the steel roll forming construction sector. Since it was set up 24 years ago it has broadened its capabilities to offer independent consultant membership and associate membership, involving other building component manufacturers – like SFS intec. As such, it was decided the MCRMA board needed an additional representative to reflect its growing member base and ensure all sectors are fully represented.
Colin Yeates, Sales and Marketing Director at SFS intec, comments: “The worst recession in living memory has resulted all too often in a drive to procure building products simply based on their cost. The cheapest product is bought and the future consequences of that sole decision simply aren’t considered. Representative of the problem is the fact that, in many cases, issues around quality, installation and especially performance have still not improved.
“SFS intec has played an active role in the MCRMA for over 20 years, so it is a real privilege to be given a personal role on the management board. In this position I am anxious to support initiatives and activities that drive innovative performance over time, life cycle cost planning – taking cost out – and best practice joined-up thinking, between like-minded manufacturers. This way, as an industry, we can ensure clients get the performance they deserve and over time, the lowest cost.
“As the UK moves out of recession and clients once again invest billions in their building needs, regulations bring additional challenges on issues such as acoustics, ever improved energy conservation and most importantly, value for money, high performance build programs. I look forward to having the opportunity to contribute to the future strategy of the organisation.”
Carlton Jones, Director of MCRMA, says: “The MCRMA constantly seeks to invest in and work with competent organisations, in a serious effort to demonstrate and benchmark best practice across the industry.
“We have worked with SFS intec’s team for a number of years now. Colin has often championed the cause for high performance building components and will be a great addition to the management board.”
The MCRMA will celebrate its 25th anniversary next year and currently has 29 members across all three categories – full members, associate members and independent inspectors.
