HS2 in West London: from trains to cranes

With the construction of Old Oak Common station well underway, new research reveals that the advent of HS2 is already driving economic growth nearby. Spurred on by the promise of UK-wide connectivity via high speed rail, the Elizabeth Line, Heathrow Express and Great Western Railway, developers have made their mark on West London, filling the planning pipeline full of ambitious regeneration schemes. The number of new homes, office space and leisure facilities planned have increased dramatically since HS2 gained Royal Assent in 2017. This boom in construction activity is set to add £10billion to the local economy over the next decade. These ambitious schemes are due to create thousands of new jobs, community spaces and places to live, with projects of an unprecedented scale already underway.
